Meet Bianca:

Bianca is a friendly, sweetheart of a sheep, and also who we call ‘Big Mama.’ She is an excellent wool producer (approx. 5 inches of wool), and given her large-frame, that makes for a whole lot of fiber! We’ll frequently see her resting her head on another ewe’s back, and she has always been very gentle with our little ones, allowing them to pet her and guide her around the pasture.

Product Details:

~Next-to-skin soft, 100% Wool Haven Merino wool, 3-ply light worsted/DK weight yarn from our purebred white Merino ewe, Bianca’s yearling fleece.

~Average skein weighs approx. 100 grams and measures approx. 250 yards.

~Wraps per inch: 13

~Our yarns and roving are grown and produced in West Michigan, supporting our local fiber mill.

~Bianca’s wool is a creamy white and would take dye beautifully.

Please note:

~Our selection of Wool Haven yarns and roving are in limited quantities from the fleeces of our own sheep. We encourage you to precisely estimate (or slightly over-estimate) the amount of fiber you will need to ensure you may complete your desired project(s) with our fibers.

~Although we labor to make sure we skirt our flock’s fiber well and do several thorough washings before we bring it to our local mill, our fiber and yarns may contain traces of vegetable matter, such as small pieces of hay and/or straw.

~If your purchase is intended as a gift for someone, please let us know by making a note for us at the time of purchase!

Care:

Hand wash only in fresh tepid water with a gentle wool wash. Air dry flat. Do not machine wash or dry. Do not exceed 180° F.

Knitting Photos Inspiration:

The knitting photos feature Bianca’s Yearling Light Worsted/DK Weight Merino Wool Yarn being knit into a hat using PetiteKnit’s triple brimmed ‘Oslo Hat’ knitting recipe/pattern. I found the gauge to be just right with size US 4 knitting needles ( as is called for ) and I’m very, very pleased with how it is turning out, from the ease of the pattern directions, to the softness of the wool, to the excitement of how warm a triple brimmed hat will truly be this winter!
